Been dreaming of getting away from it all? This property is just the shot.
On the stunningly beautiful Atherton Tablelands of North Queensland, is a concrete block home on 3.5 acres, just 10 minutes drive from the timber town of Ravenshoe.
It has been a rental for a number of years and is currently home to a great tenant. A brand new kitchen with new oven and cooktop has been installed. Admittedly the interior could use a coat of paint but the concrete block and zincaloom roof means that it is solid as a rock. There are 3 good size bedrooms and a 4th bedroom / storeroom on the back verandah.
PROS:
- Front verandah, back verandah, ideal for sitting and watching those magnificent NQ thunderstorms
- The property is part of rural housing estate so the neighbours are far enough away to not be a pain and close enough if you want to wave hello (through binoculars)
- There is a large concrete slab on the block ready for you to build a garage or workshop
- There's enough room to have a horse, or chooks or ducks (but you'll need to build the fence)
- Less than 1 km away is the Millstream Golf Club
- You can hear the Millstream Falls (the widest waterfalls in Australia) as you lay in bed at night
- You can actually see the stars on a dark evening, but you can't count them because there's just too many!
- Although it's a little run down, you could absolutely move right in and be comfortable (if you choose not to let to tenant)
- There is a HUGE walk-in pantry (I don't know what we were thinking!). This could possibly be converted into an en-suite to the main bedroom by a clever person.
- The most beautiful jacaranda tree growing in the yard.
- Your own piece of history; there is a chimney and a couple of old concrete slabs on the block from when our Aussie troops were camped in the area in the 1940s.
- The town of Ravenshoe is an absolute delight if you enjoy a good old-fashioned country community. It has a couple of pubs (of course), schools, 2 small grocery stores, fabulous bakery, newsagent, post office, hairdresser, town hall, Mitre 10, etc.
- Ravenshoe holds an annual Torimba Festival with all the trimmings you would expect of a small town festival, beauty queens, parades, displays and a slap up ball.
- Cairns is a beautiful 2 hour drive away... pro or con, you decide
- The climate is beautiful one day and perfect the next, summer rains, winters that would rarely get below 7, and summers in mid to high 20s, occasionally higher.
- Your own mango tree!!
CONS (in the spirit of absolute transparency):
- It's a basic block home, nothing fancy at all (other than the new kitchen) because we built to a very tight budget, no built-ins, one toilet and one bathroom.
- The nearest large shopping centre (and KFC) is a 40 minute drive away in Atherton
- My tenant is outstanding and is happy to say on but is on a periodic lease so vacant possession is possible by giving 30 days notice. This could be a PRO if you are not ready to live there now but are looking towards retirement.
Photos of the interior are limited to protect the privacy of my tenant.
Go on... do it... you know you want to escape the rat race, if not now then when you retire in a year or two.
Would consider a sway for a house/apartment in Yeppoon of similar value.
Offers over $250,000 accepted quicker than a blink so call to enquire further
